Mitegen Announces Consolidation and Improvements to MicroLoops™ Product Lines

MicroLoops™ and MicroLoops™ HT product lines merged and improved with Dual thickness technology, providing an economical option in premium crystal mounts.

Ithaca, NY, May 09, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Mitegen LLC, a provider of innovative consumables for X-ray diffraction, crystallography and protein crystallization to academic, pharmaceutical, industrial and government researchers around the world, recently announced consolidation and improvements to it’s MicroLoops™ and MicroLoops™ HT product lines of crystal mounts for X-ray crystallography.

The two former product lines are to be replaced by one Dual Thickness MicroLoops product line, which will be available in aperture sizes from 50 to 1000 μm. The move was made to accommodate customer requests for a robust yet economically-priced loop that provides the advantages of Mitegen’s patented design and Dual Thickness Technology.

“Our development of the Dual Thickness material processing has allowed us to make our standard MicroLoops more durable than our original MicroLoops, and even more durable than our original MicroLoops HT,” says Ben Apker, Director of Operations. "By removing all through holes and adding enhanced features for aperture recognition and improved auto-centering, the new MicroLoops will last longer and be easier to use.”

Dual Thickness MicroLoops™ will be available by the end of March 2012. Aperture sizes of 50, 100, 150, 200, 300, 400, 500, 800, and 1000 μm will be available in packages of 20. Dual Thickness MicroLoops™ can be order in individual sizes or in any of three standard assortments. Customer assortments are available upon request.

“By combining these product lines, and improving the products with our Dual Thickness manufacturing technique, we are able to provide a superior product at competitive loop price levels,” according to Robert Newman, CEO of Mitegen. "We have also expanded the loop sizes available to meet the needs of crystallographers working with larger samples."

Crystallographers looking for sizes smaller than 50 μm, as well as those who desire the absolute least X-ray background scatter, should continue to order from Mitegen’s best selling Dual Thickness MicroMounts™ and Dual Thickness MicroLoops™LD product lines. Crystallographers handling crystals smaller than 10μm, should consider Mitegen’s MicroCrystal Mounts™.
