COR Retreat Releases Food Addiction Infographic

COR Retreat, a non-profit food addiction treatment program in Minnesota, releases an infographic titled Understanding Food Addiction in America, featuring statistics, symptoms and treatment options.

Minneapolis, MN, May 31, 2012 --(PR.com)-- COR Retreat released an infographic titled Understanding Food Addiction in America. It features statistics, symptoms, and treatment options related to food addiction. The infographic, which is available in print and web formats at cormn.org/infographic, is meant to raise awareness for food addiction, and can be used by anyone, including bloggers, authors and media members.

"We are early in the fight for broad awareness of food addiction amongst the American public," says Burt Nordstrand, founder of COR Retreat. "It's important to educate people and provide help to those suffering from this fatal disease."

Notably, the infographic compares the costs of other more widely known treatments that food addicts sometimes receive, including gastric bypass surgery and liposuction. As a non-surgical, and non-profit program, COR Retreat stacks up very well against those treatments which only focus on weight reduction, rather than a lifestyle change and recovery from an addiction to food.

"Food addicts often try other diet programs, and notice a short-term weight loss, before gaining the weight back," says Michelle Goldberger, Program Director at COR Retreat. "The problem isn't necessarily the diet, it's that traditional diets don't work long term for food addicts. Without an entire psychic change and a support system, food addicts often can't change their eating habits long-term."

COR Retreat is a non-profit organization that hosts five-day, four-night retreats where participants learn how to live free from the obsession with food and the excess weight it causes. During the retreat, COR uses the 12 steps process while attendees detox from their drug of choice, food. After they leave, successful participants continue to work the 12 steps by attending meetings, getting help from a mentor and paying it forward. You can learn more about COR Retreat at cormn.org
