La Torretta Lake Resort and Spa Recognized for Outstanding Promotion of Golf by the Texas Golf Writers Association

La Torretta Lake Resort and Spa was recognized for Outstanding Promotion of Golf by the Texas Golf Writers Association (TGWA) during their annual conference at the facility over the weekend of June 24-26, 2012.

Conroe, TX, July 19, 2012 --(PR.com)-- La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa – Houston’s resort destination – La Torretta Lake Resort and Spa was recognized for Outstanding Promotion of Golf by the Texas Golf Writers Association (TGWA) during their annual conference at the facility over the weekend of June 24-26, 2012.

Before the awards ceremony sixteen of the best Texas Golf Writers took to the impeccable 18-hole golf course at La Torretta for their 25th Annual Champion Tournament. Roy Lang III, sports editor of the Shreveport Times, repeated as TGWA overall champion.

After the tournament, President Doug Kienitz of Georgetown presented plaques to the resort and to Director of Sales & Marketing, Al Luciano, at the TGWA's annual convention. "The recovery the golf course at La Torretta has shown after last summer's statewide drought is impressive," said Kienitz. "The fact that Al Luciano and his staff are making a concerted effort make the course more attractive to daily fee players and resort guests is special indeed."

Jeffrey D. Blume, the architect who re-designed the original Del Lago Course in 2007, attended the TGWA meeting and did a presentation to the membership after playing the course with resort officials and TGWA members. "It is obvious the team at La Torretta is focused on continuing to improve the golf operation."
