Adam Buyer, project leader at B1 says:

"There are two brand-new and unique features in the 0.6 version which have never been implemented before and available only for users of B1 Free Archiver.

"The first one is called 'Preferred open action.' It defines three different behaviours when you double-click on an archive in Explorer (Win), Finder (Mac) or Nautilus (Linux) - open content of the archive in B1, instantly extract original files without extra dialogs, or ask only for the name of the folder before instant extraction. Now everyone can choose the most convenient way to open archives.

"The second important feature - option 'Skip single folder on extraction.' Some people like to keep their folders and files organized. If you worked with many archives you might notice that some of them consists of only one folder, and original files are placed inside that folder. Like birthday.zip > birthday > photos.jpg. But you never know if it's like that or regular birthday.zip > photos.jpg. So you have to open archive first, check for the folder, and than decide what's appropriate - extract here or extract to separate folder. It's really annoying.

"Now B1 does it for you! If you use 'extract here' you always get only photos.jpg; and if you use 'extract to new folder' - always get birthday > photos.jpg.

“Since last release we have received a lot of grateful letters from our users. They highly appreciate our user-friendly interface and minimalistic design. That's really inspiring. Also we received some very important suggestions about functionality and features of B1. For example our users complained about zip archives with non-Latin symbols. The problems appeared only for particular old type of zip archives, but it's still quite popular and our users have a lot of such files. We made it one of our top priorities, found the solution and fixed the problem in the 0.6 release. I want to thank everyone who sent letters to support@b1.org and I promise that we continue to listen and analyze all the feedbacks."
