Old Chatham Golf Club Names John Marino as Director of Operations

Marino Responsible for Management of Golf Course Facilities and Activities

Durham, NC, October 04, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Old Chatham Golf Club (http://www.oldchathamgolf.org), a prestigious Triangle-based golf club, has announced that John Marino has been named the club’s director of operations. As director of operations, Marino ensures that all activities at the golf course and clubhouse run smoothly for members and their guests. He oversees the facilities, checks on services provided by other club personnel and assesses golf course conditions, course set up and maintenance practices. Marino has been on the Old Chatham staff since early April 2001, the same year that the club opened.

Originally from Greenwich, Conn., Marino worked at the local public golf course. He joined the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) of America in 1994 after graduating from the University of Connecticut at Storrs where he earned his bachelor’s degree in business communications. In 1994, Marino became the assistant golf professional at Round Hill Club in Greenwich during the summer months and Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Fla., in the winter. He worked with members of both clubs for seven years until joining the staff at Old Chatham Golf Club.

Apart from his duties at Old Chatham, Marino serves as secretary of the Carolinas PGA Section, which is dedicated to elevating the standards of the Professional Golfers’ vocation, promote interest in the game of golf and to promote good relations with the clubs and communities within the Carolinas Section. He is a past board member of The First Tee of the Triangle, a nonprofit organization with educational programs in Wake, Durham and Orange counties that impact the lives of young people ages 6-18 by building character, instilling life-enhancing values and promoting healthy choices through the game of golf. Marino has also taught a class at NC State University called Golf for Business and Life which was focused on teaching Graduate Students the game of golf so they could use it in their careers.

Marino resides in Chapel Hill, N.C. with his wife Jill, and their two sons, Mats and Thijs.
