Sue L. Nguyen Children’s Enrichment Center

Houston, TX, November 03, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The Houston Area Women’s Center names their Children’s Enrichment Center after the late Sue L. Nguyen. A year ago, on September 18th, Sue passed away, leaving behind a legacy to be remembered and an extraordinary gift to the Houston Area Women’s Center. Sue was a dedicated guidance counselor in the Houston Independent School District for more than 20 years. She willingly gave her time, energy, compassion and concern to help her students empower themselves through personal growth and education. As an immigrant herself, she sympathized with her young Vietnamese countrymen, and stood by them as well as other immigrants of different nationalities. She felt it was important to defend their rights and give them guidance as they began their new lives in the United States. This dedication assisted and influenced countless young people of all races and nationalities.

Thanks to the late Sue L. Nguyen’s gift, the Houston Area Women’s Center will be able to make some much-needed improvements to the agency and to sustain the important, future-saving work that happens there. They will be able to purchase two new vans to transport middle and high school students to school and to transport all of their children to exciting, horizon expanding field trips and learning opportunities offsite.

The Houston Area Women’s Center helps individuals affected by domestic and sexual violence in their efforts to move their lives forward. They provide shelter, counseling and advocacy to support survivors in building their lives free from the effects of violence. They seek social change to end domestic and sexual violence through community awareness and education. Their services are confidential and free.
