Author Turns Hatred Into Romance and Substitute Bride

Sixth-grader, Ruth Ann Nordin hated reading and writing. Now, thirty years later, her forty-seventh novel, Substitute Bride hits the bookshelves.

Pittsburgh, PA, November 08, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Substitute Bride has Alexandra Dixon (Alex) trying to convince her best friend, Kevin Edwards that he should not marry the first girl who catches his attention (Tammy) in order to inherit a fortune by Valentine’s Day. Alex volunteers for the role to save her friend from making the biggest mistake of his life.

Those who enjoyed The Bachelor, a 1999 film starring Chris O’Donnell and Renee Zellweger will enjoy Substitute Bride with its familiar themes and messages about finding true love in unexpected places.

Having started her writing career in other genres, Nordin has now settled happily with romance although she does not follow the traditional romance formulae publishing houses like to see. “I have themes in my novels,” says Nordin, “and I focus more on how the male and female protagonists treat each other and overcome struggles in their relationship rather than the lust factor.”

As the wife of an Air Force veteran and mother of four young boys, it is a wonder that Nordin has time for writing. But she says that if she is not writing, she cannot sleep as the stories in her head keep her awake, and she has no plans to slow down. “I’ve learned over the years,” says Nordin, “that persistence, passion and patience are key factors in building a writing career. Books don't always sell right away, and sometimes they barely sell at all, and there's no way to predict which books will be hits and which won’t. That's why passion needs to be evident in every story you write. It's the passion that helps you to keep going when sales are disappointing or your work receives negative reviews.”

Nordin also finds time to co-administer the Self-Published Author's Lounge, and is a member of the Association of Independent Authors. You can learn more about Ruth Ann Nordin on her website at http://www.ruthannnordin.com.
