Slow Burn Theatre to Mount the Broadway Cult Classic Side Show in West Boca

Boca Raton, FL, January 20, 2013 --(PR.com)-- After the success of their opener, Avenue Q, the award-winning Slow Burn Theatre Company continues its fourth season with the Tony award nominated and cult classic Side Show. Based on the true story of Siamese twins Violet and Daisy Hilton who became stars during the Depression, Side Show is a moving portrait of two women joined at the hip whose extraordinary bond brings them fame but denies them love. Nominated for four Tony awards, the show follows their progression from England to America, around the vaudeville circuit and to Hollywood on the eve of their appearance in the 1932 movie “Freaks.”

While playing on Broadway, “Side Show” garnered numerous critical accolades and earned four Tony Award nominations in 1998, a tough season on Broadway with competition from “Ragtime,” “The Lion King” and “The Scarlet Pimpernel.” “Side Show” was nominated for Best Musical, Best Score, Best Book of a Musical and Best Actress in a Musical for both Alice Ripley and Emily Skinner who portrayed the Hilton twins. The show gained a loyal following from fans who named themselves the “Freaks.”

“Side Show is another perfect show to continue our mission of showcasing local talent and bringing intelligent musical theatre to south Florida,” said Patrick Fitzwater, Co-Artistic Director of Slow Burn Theatre Company. “We’re thrilled to present this show to our audience and let them see why it was so well received by critics and audiences alike.”

The cast of Slow Burn Theatre’s Side Show includes: Kaela Antolino (Daisy), Courtney Poston (Violet), Matthew Korinko (Terry), Rick Peña (Buddy), Jerel Brown (Jake), Conor Walton (The Boss), and Karen Chandler, Kristina Johnson, Lisa Kerstin Braun, Sabrina Gore, Alisha Todd, Justin Schneyer, John Corby, Dan Carter, Michael Mena and Bruno Faria (Ensemble).
