Singapore, Singapore, March 20, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Dean & Deluca, the famous gourmet shop cum café that originated in Manhattan, USA opened its second store in Singapore last Saturday March 16th, 2013 at Orchard Central. Famed international design firm, DBTA International once again proved their versatility in successfully designing their first collaboration with the brand.

The first Dean & Deluca in Singapore which is also in Orchard Central opened last June 2012 and caters to the gourmet shop and café, while, the newly opened Dean & Deluca caters to the butchery, fresh fruits/vegetables/herbs and of course, the wine gallery. Customers can expect only the high quality meat with option for marinated or fresh, freshest Japanese fruits and a wide selection of California wines.

Kitchen Language, F&B arm of Far East Organization and owner of Dean & Deluca Singapore franchise is a major player in Singapore restaurant and retail development business. “From the onset, the direction is to make sure that food would be the star without compromising the design as a backdrop, at the same time without overshadowing the brand. We wanted to bring the high-end market feel into the Dean & Deluca expansion in Orchard Central,” said Kitchen Language General Manager, Mr. Kenneth Low.

Executing such vision is internationally renowned designer, David Tokiwa. “The fact that there should be continuity from the design of the first Dean & Deluca was a challenge. We had to make sure that all aspects of the brand requirement are there at the same time creating a 'new' Dean & Deluca that would imitate the same Dean & Deluca 'feel' when customers walk-in,” said David Tokiwa, Managing Director of DBTA. “We achieved this by combining approved Dean & Deluca materials with new elements and concept that would enhance the new purpose of the store. A good example would be the wine gallery; we had to put in rustic wood to have that Napa Valley feel. As a 'talking point,' the wine table used the actual railway tracks…” added Mr. Tokiwa.

Since the initial store opening in Manhattan, Dean & Deluca has added additional locations in New York City, Washington DC, North Carolina, Kansas City and Napa Valley. In addition, several international locations have opened in Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, South Korea, Turkey, Middle East and of course, Singapore.
