Lewiston Art Festival Winners

Sculpture Portraits earns an award in their first year.

Lewiston, NY, August 18, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The winners of the 2007 41st Lewiston Art Festival have been announced. Shawn Slother, of Sculpture Portraits, has earned an award in his first year of attending the juried art show. The Festival was held August 11 & 12 in Lewiston, NY and was attended by a record number of 185 fine artists.

Slother received a second place award for his low-relief portrait entitled, St. Michael - The Protector. Originally hand-sculpted in honor of Buffalo Police Officer Patty Parete, who was severely injured in the line of duty last year, the sculpture shows St. Michael holding a police badge. "I thought it appropriate to depict the Patron Saint of Law Enforcement Personnel as a way of reminding all of us how much these officers do for us. To show visually the thought that someone is there protecting those people who protect us." said Slother.

Castings of Slother's award winning sculpture may be purchased through his website, and offers personalized options. "Many officers request the name of a fallen officer be included as a memorial. While others have their name or division listed," Slother explained.
