SHPE Boston Announces New President, Tomas Maldonado

Boston, MA, June 19, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The Boston Chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) announced to its members that Tomas Maldonado has been elected as the new President of the organization. Maldonado is currently part of the board of directors of SHPE Boston and a SHPE Lifetime member. He will assume the presidency on July 1, 2013.

Maldonado is a Systems Engineer at Raytheon in the THAAD Missile Defense System Program. He is an avid technology and business professional with multiple achievements and increasing responsibility at Raytheon Company where he is working as a radar systems integrator and tester. He is also Raytheon’s Hispanic Organization for Leadership and Advancement (HOLA) Northeast President. He has been nominated for the 2013 Great Minds in STEM Most Promising Engineer and is the recipient of multiple Raytheon engineering achievement awards.

Building on his engineering and organizational skills, Tomas has helped youth through providing programs, classes (leadership, professional/personal development and technical) and mentoring through the Raytheon Stand and Deliver Program, SHPE Leadership Development Conferences among others.

Tomas Maldonado was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He graduated from the University of Puerto Rico – Mayaguez with a degree in Electrical Engineering, and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Systems Engineer from John Hopkins University.
