Comodo Rated Top Antivirus Software Again

Comodo, a leading Certificate Authority and Internet security organization, announced today that the Comodo Internet Security Premium (CIS) software was the only free antivirus product to receive a 100% protection rating from AV-Test.org.

Clifton, NJ, August 06, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Test results show Comodo Internet Security Premium as the only free antivirus software to receive a perfect score for protection in recent Internet security tests. Comodo’s software also showed marked improvements in the ‘Performance’ and ‘Usability’ categories over similar tests run in April and May by the same organization.

The tests, carried out by software testing firm AV-Test.org, continuously evaluated 26 home use Internet security products on the Windows 7 operating system through May and June 2013. Each product was tested using its most current, publicly-available version and its default settings. All Internet security products were allowed to update themselves at any time and had to demonstrate their antivirus and malware protection capabilities using all components and protection layers. Tests focused on realistic scenarios and challenged the products against real-world threats.

In covering this month’s results, PC Magazine’s Neil Rubenking wrote in his "SecurityWatch" blog, “Looking at scores over time, Comodo's rise is almost meteoric.”

AV-Test.org’s "Protection" category is broken down into two areas – protection against unknown or "zero-day" malware and protection against malware that was discovered in the past 4 weeks. The average score for these two antivirus and malware protection areas across the entire Internet security industry is 92% and 98% respectively. While 5 internet security suites surpassed these averages to achieve 100% for protection, Comodo Internet Security Premium was the only antivirus product that is free to the end-user.

“Comodo Internet Security has always prioritized protection because our users demand nothing less than a perfect score,” said Melih Abdulhayoglu, Comodo CEO and Chief Security Architect. “But what’s especially pleasing about these results is the real progress we’ve made in the other key metrics of ‘Performance’ and ‘Usability’. We’re happy to prove once again that a free product can offer equivalent or better security than any paid software. For that, I’d like to thank everybody in the CIS development and QA teams for their tireless dedication and our great community over at the Comodo forums for their invaluable feedback and insight.”

Comodo Internet Security Premium creates a highly protective shield against viruses and malware through its innovative ‘Default Deny Protection™’ system which leverages Comodo’s patented auto-sandboxing technology. The software uses a combination of firewall, antivirus, host intrusion prevention, and behavior analysis technologies to quickly and accurately identify safe, unsafe, and questionable files. While the core CIS software is identical across all versions, the paid versions are differentiated with additional services such as live support, online storage and encryption of Wi-Fi connections at public hotspots. The free Comodo Internet Security Premium has also consistently topped the rolling "Proactive Security Challenge" run by testing organization Matousec.
