Derrick Strauss Dares to Participate in Triple Bypass Road Ride

Derrick Strauss completed 120-mile Triple Bypass cycle ride through Colorado Rockies.

Greenwood Village, CO, September 28, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Derrick Strauss of Littleton, Colorado, trained for and completed the 25th annual Triple Bypass road ride on July 13, 2013. The Triple Bypass is a two-day event, spanning 120 miles each day, hosted by the nonprofit Team Evergreen Bicycle Club. Derrick Strauss describes the Triple Bypass as “one of the hardest organized bike rides in the country.”

Derrick Strauss, marketing manager for All Western Mortgage, takes full advantage of his home state’s outdoor splendor. For more than six months, Derrick Strauss dedicated his recreational time to training for the Triple Bypass cycle ride through the Colorado Rockies. While Derrick Strauss thoroughly enjoyed his training regimen, he notes that training for such a grueling ride is not for the faint of heart.

To train for the Triple Bypass, Derrick Strauss clocked hundreds of miles on his bike, sure to hit major inclines and declines along the way. Derrick Strauss stresses the importance of gradually building up to long rides when training for any road ride to avoid unnecessary injury and strain. Additionally, Derrick Strauss committed to eating a healthy diet high in protein and packed with vitamins and minerals to ensure his body was in optimum condition. As Derrick Strauss notes, Optimize Endurance Service is a partner of the Triple Bypass and offers training plans exclusive to this ride for those interested in planning for next year.

Derrick Strauss hit the road on July 13, 2013, prepared to successfully complete the Triple Bypass. On the first day of the ride, the Triple Bypass took Derrick Strauss and other riders on a western route, spanning from Evergreen to Avon, over three mountain passes and with a 10,000 foot elevation gain. The second day, the Triple Bypass circled back to the east, with riders traveling from Avon back to Evergreen. Some riders participate in both days of the ride, which is fittingly called the Double Triple Bypass.

Derrick Strauss has participated in numerous road rides over the years, but he considers the Triple Bypass the gold standard of organized rides. As Derrick Strauss describes, the ride route is clearly marked and well-staffed. There are seven aid stations spread out along the route for the riders’ convenience. Additionally, road closures and strict adherence to safety measures ensure a smooth and safe ride. Derrick Strauss says the organizer, Team Evergreen, covers every detail and even transports an overnight bag from one end to the other for every rider.

This year, Derrick Strauss was elated to participate in the Triple Bypass, now in its 25th year. The Triple Bypass, with its 120 miles of splendor and exertion, is a ride worth taking at least once in a lifetime, encourages Derrick Strauss. Next year’s Triple Bypass will take place on July 12-13, 2014. Derrick Strauss advises potential riders to start planning their training regimen now, especially if riders are new to the race and/or riding in the mountains.

Derrick Strauss resides in Littleton, Colorado, with his wife and three children.
