Cheer Channel Unveils 2013-2014 Slate of New Original Programming

"Secret Diary 3" and "Cheer Mashup" earn renewals in the stacked line-up.

Austin, TX, October 03, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Cheer Channel Inc. (CCI), the #1 online news and entertainment network for the spirit industry, announced today it's new slate of original programming for the 2013-2014 season. With 9 shows in the works, the CCI slate will offer both scripted and non-scripted programming for digital and television broadcast, including renewed seasons for the hit shows, Secret Diary of an American Cheerleader and Cheer Mashup.

CCI remains the #1 news and entertainment media source and digital production company for the $7 billion dollar spirit industry. CCI's target audience of teen and tween cheerleaders and cheer moms has responded enthusiastically to the company's early digital programming efforts with nearly 10 million views and 75,000 subscribers. "We are thrilled to announce our 2013-2014 slate of programming and continuing to provide original, entertaining, and informative content to the industry and its fans," said Cindy Villarreal, CEO of Cheer Channel. "This kind of substantial and innovative content from an independent online network, which will include drama, reality, animation, and hosted in-studio-personality driven shows offers a variety of content for advertisers to choose from, all targeting a coveted 12-17 and 12-24 demographic."

One of the most anticipated shows in the fall line-up is the third season of Secret Diary of an American Cheerleader. The "Secret Diary" franchise, an anthology with different cast and storylines each season, combines elements of drama, comedy, and all-star cheerleading. "Secret Diary" has garnered more than 3.5 million combined views in the first 2 seasons which sold out its major category sponsorships. "Although there is a waiting list for certain commercial placements through Season 5, we are finding new ways to smartly integrate brands into the show," said Villarreal. Season 3 will go into production in Los Angeles, California in the late fall and nationwide casting, to be conducted by the Cheer Casting Agency, will begin in October.

Cheer Mashup, the cheer lifestyle show hosted by World Champion cheerleader and Cheer Channel's Superstar of All Stars, Maddie Gardner, earned a renewal for a second season. The inaugural season continues to draw strong numbers averaging over 100,000 views per episode with Gardner continuing to grow in popularity. Gardner will return as the host of Season 2.

So You Think You Can Cheer, a reality talent competition series, being produced as a pilot for television broadcast. The individual and stunt duo competitions will be held at major cheer events across the country during the 2013-2014 cheer season. The show will follow a similar format of some of the popular TV reality competition shows such as So You Think You Can Dance, America's Got Talent, and American Idol.

Cheer Up, geared toward cheer moms and dads, will have its world premier on October 14, 2013 and continue with bi-weekly episodes through the cheer season. The knowledgable industry host and cheer mom is Chrishell Ebner, owner and author of the "Cheer Mama Drama" website and blog. Cheer Up will provide cheer parents with advice tips, and insightson how to manage their kids involved in the busy world of competitive cheer and dance.

On The Mat will be hosted by Mackenzi Swicegood, model, actress, and former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader and member of Cheer Athletics. Swicegood, daughter of Jody and Ginger Melton, owners of Cheer Athletics, has previously been a CCI correspondent reporting at live events. The show will focus on cheer gyms and tour the nation doing features, spotlights, and makeovers with gym owners, coaches, and celebrity cheerleaders.
