)-- Following a successful trial period during the last two years in a very small number of specialist stores, the company has decided that it is the right time to offer its products to consumers in the world’s largest outdoor market. Based in Portland, Oregon, Berghaus USA will operate as a subsidiary of the business and will begin by selling in a selection of products from the winter 2014 range to target retailers.
Walt Crate has been confirmed as President of Berghaus USA, with Bo Johnson as VP sales and marketing. The Portland team will work with a group of sales and marketing agents across all of the key outdoor regions in the country. Johnson and Crate have many years of experience in representing a range of outdoor and sports brands and have a successful track record of introducing European based brands to the US.
Berghaus USA will start by selling products from the brand’s most technical ranges, including Extrem, Mountain and the recently launched VapourLight collection. In recent years, the kit introduced by the MtnHaus design and development team has attracted the interest of both outdoor media and some consumers in the USA, and Berghaus USA aims to capitalise on growing interest in technically innovative and lightweight outdoor gear.
