IEEE ComSoc Training Offers Intensive Wireless Communications Course in Combined Package with IEEE Spring 2014 WCET Exam

)-- The IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc), the leading professional organization dedicated to the advance of communications technologies worldwide, is currently offering a combination package providing seats to its Intensive Wireless Communications Course and the Spring 2014 IEEE Wireless Communication Engineering Technologies (IEEE WCET®) Certification Exam. The Spring 2014 testing window will be open from 17 March – 12 April and applications must be submitted by 28 February.
The five day course taught online via WebEx will be held Monday, 27 January – Friday, 31 January 2014 and Monday, 17 March – Friday, 21 March 2014. The course can either be attended independently as a method for learning about the latest wireless industry topics, trends and challenges or purchased jointly with the IEEE WCET Exam and used as a method for gaining a better understanding of the certification program’s key testing areas. In addition to discounted rates for both the tutorial and exam, professionals purchasing the combined package also receive a free online IEEE WCET practice exam consisting of 75 questions designed to help individuals gauge their preparedness for the official exam.

The 5 Day Intensive Wireless Communications Course was specifically-designed to cover all seven areas tested on the IEEE WCET Certification exam. This includes RF engineering, propagation and antennas; access technologies; network and service architecture; network management and security; facilities infrastructure; agreements, standards, policies and regulations; and fundamental knowledge. It is also recommended for professionals with an engineering or technology background and developed as a comprehensive overview of how different facets of wireless practice fit into the overall design, implementation, and operation of wireless networks.
Led by Alan Bensky, an IEEE certified Wireless Communication Professional with over 30 years of experience and the author of several books highlighting the latest wireless communications technologies and applications, the course will be offered online for four hours over the course of five consecutive days. There are two sessions per day which run from 9:00am-11:00am and then from 1:00pm-3:00pm EST making it easier for professionals to juggle other tasks during the days the course is taught.
Although participants may have taken the course in the past, they can also expect a unique experience given that each session is taught live with current event examples and fresh questions. In addition, each registered student will receive a copy of instructor slides and a Guide to the Wireless Engineering Body of Knowledge (WEBOK), 2nd edition published by John Wiley & Sons. For the 20 hours of instruction each attendee also receives 2 IEEE Continuing Education Units which are equivalent to 20 Professional Development Hours.

The IEEE WCET program was prepared by global wireless industry experts to provide a vendor-neutral method for qualifying the wireless knowledge of individuals. To earn the IEEE WCP credential, individuals must pass the comprehensive IEEE WCET examination, which is composed of 150 multiple choice questions and offered via computer at testing centers worldwide. IEEE ComSoc recommends that candidates have a degree from an accredited college or university and three or more years of graduate-level education or professional wireless communication engineering experience.
