MightyDoes Provides Free Handyman Service for Older and Disabled People

Older and disabled people in USA will benefit a free handyman service from MightyDoes launched this week.

Harbor Hills, AK, January 03, 2014 --(PR.com)-- A maintenance engineer has been recruited by MightyDoes to make sure older and disabled residents can remain independent for longer by getting odd jobs carried out around their homes for free by a reliable, trustworthy handyman.

He can carry out a variety of jobs including repairing stairs and floors, small plumbing jobs, replacing broken windows, fixing loose carpet, replacing light bulbs, plugs and fuses, fitting locks, safety chains and spy holes and fitting grab rails.

He said: "Changing a light bulb or fixing loose carpet might sound like simple tasks but the older you get the harder it can be to climb ladders or bend down low to do these things. I'm pleased I got this opportunity to make people's lives a little bit easier."

Cabinet member for community protection, said: "Council tenants already benefit from free repairs but we know there are lots of older and disabled residents who live in private flats and need small jobs doing around their homes."

It can be a daunting - and expensive task - to call a tradesman into your home but with MightyDoes maintenance, residents can have peace of mind knowing he's experienced, friendly and trustworthy. So far almost 50 people have asked about MightyDoes services and his diary is filling up fast.

A keen cyclist and musician, he grew up in California learning his trade as a railway maintenance worker before moving to Texas to work on drilling rigs in the Outback and then heading to other states in the Nineties.

The handyman service is for people aged 60 and over or on disability allowance.

It applies to people in private accommodation or homes owned by registered social landlords without access to handyman services.

The scheme is free although materials that cost more than 50 will have to be paid for.
