Five Day Lecture Series by Nilita Vachani, SACAC, New Delhi

Documentary and the Representation of Reality would be held at SACAC from the 5th to 9th of February, 2014.

New Delhi, India, January 24, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Sri Aurobindo Centre for Arts and Communication, New Delhi is pleased to host a five day lecture series by Nilita Vachani, on Documentary and the Representation of Reality, starting from the 5th of February till 9th of February, 2014. This mini-series on Creative Documentary will explore dominant modes of documentary address and the questions they raise about representing reality. The intention is to bring out a bunch of critical and creative filmmakers and scholars.

Documentary filmmaking , by definition, makes a certain truth claim about the world it represents. Throughout the history of the moving image, filmmakers and theorists have attempted to define and contest documentary’s relationship with reality

SACAC offers a one year Intensive film making course with focus on Creative Documentary. In this course students will engage in a rigorous exploration that entails intensive work with one primary goal—that of finding their own voice. This one year post graduate diploma course is designed as a unique Creative documentary course that adopts a comprehensive and holistic approach to teaching and learning.

Nilita Vachani is a documentary filmmaker, writer and educator. She is associate faculty at the Tisch School of the Arts, New York University. Her documentaries (Eyes of Stone, Diamonds in a Vegetable Market, When Mother Comes Home for Christmas) have been internationally screened and awarded.

Applications are invited for the lecture series from film students and film lovers with a keen interest in documentary and its various forms.
