SongDoor 2013 Winners Announced

Nashville, TN, January 24, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The winners of the SongDoor 2013 International Songwriting Competition have been announced: the Grand Award has gone to Justin Froese and Nancy Montgomery of Seattle, WA for their song, “Finally Here,” which also won the Christian category. Entries were received from 17 countries on four continents. All of the winning songs can be heard at http://songdoor.com.

“I am truly thrilled to have ‘Finally Here’ win the Grand Award!” says Froese. “I couldn't be more proud of this song and its story, especially having written it with Nancy, who is my my co-writer as well as my cousin. I hope the level of recognition ‘Finally Here’ has received will help its message of hope reach the whole human family.”

“For the first time, most of our judges went out of their assigned category to choose this song,” says SongDoor president Tony Zotta. “That really speaks to the appeal and ‘gravitational pull’ of the songwriting, which really does grab you."

Carson Henley and co-writer Allen Stone (who made a memorable appearance on “Live At Daryl’s House”), were a close second with their soft-rock tune, “Go Under.” Judge Dennis Winters (of the legendary Southern rock band The Winters Brothers) described “Go Under” this way: "I love the song's groove & melody, caught me right off. The lyrics are great, they really deliver a message. Originality and structure are off the hook!”

This year’s “Staff Favorite” was Hard Rock/Alternative Rock finalist “Million Out Of Me,” by RanDair Porter, from WA, USA.

The competition was generously sponsored by SongU.com, Broadjam, 16 Ton Studios, MasterWriter, Songsinc, Herringbone Recording Studio and Hard Twist Music/BMI. It was not just the winners who won — every songwriter who entered this year's competition receives a free 45-day all-access trial to SongU.com, as well as free sight-reading software to help them improve their skills.

As winner of this year's Grand Award, Froese and Montgomery win a single-song publishing contract, a one-year Platinum membership to SongU.com, a full-band demo cut at 16 Ton Studio on Nashville's Music Row, Masterwriter software, a Songsinc membership and a host of other prizes valued at more than $7,900.
