Richard Rawlings, a native of Fort Worth Texas, followed in his dad’s footsteps and developed a passion for cars from an early age, building cars and attending car shows with him. Richard bought his first car when he was 14 years old: a green ’74 Mercury Comet. By the time he hit his senior year in high school, he was already on his third car, a ’77 Bandit Trans Am. Richard says he has always worked just so he could have cars. He even took a bullet in the early ’90s as he fought off a carjacker who was trying to steal his ’65 Mustang 2+2 Fastback.
A veteran of transcontinental road rallies, Richard has won the Gumball 3000 and the Bullrun — twice. He is the current world record holder in the Cannonball Run and was even recognized by Jay Leno for this achievement, having broken the record that stood since 1979. Now, his reality show “Fast and Loud” is now the number one show on cable and Discovery for men 25-54 and 18- 49 on Monday nights, and for good reason. It averages over 2.6 million viewers per episode.
"Richard has a great sense of humor as well as awesome hair, so I'm sure fans of the show will be excited for the opportunity to meet him in person," said Michael J. Broderick, Quinault Beach Resort and Casino’s director of casino marketing. "We couldn’t be more excited to host Richard and to give one of our lucky patrons a chance to win a custom Gas Monkey Garage Ford F-150!” exclaimed Broderick.
One man’s rust bucket is another man’s treasure couldn’t be more true for car fanatic Richard. Dead set on finding automobile treasures in Texas junkyards and beyond, he is on a quest to find some of America’s junkiest cars, restore them into classic rides and turn a nice big profit.
"It'll be a lot of fun; Quinault Beach is going to go into overdrive this Spring with Richard," said CEO Don Kajans.
