)-- Democracy originates from Ancient Greece where all citizens had the right to vote and that's how they took decisions about their society. Today our world works with something called representative democracy and most of the people are quite familiar with it - people vote for somebody else who then represents their interests in the government and takes decisions for them and their future. But do politicians really make their decisions based on the desires of the electorate?
A new online project presented on the international crowdfunding platform Indiegogo aims to change the way of how we think about democracy today. The platform takes advantage of the fact that 77% of the people in the developed world have access to the Internet and that figure will continue to increase rapidly in the years to come. That gives the world to opportunity to take democracy to the next level – where all people have the right to vote.
In its essence VoteFront is the first online democracy platform where all people can vote directly on the issues that concern them.
One of the first things that they teach us about democracy is that the people are the sole sovereign in such a system. The purpose of VoteFront is exactly that - to give more power in the hands of the people and to show the politicians what society really desires.
VoteFront’s working principle is quite simple - people post issues that they think are vital for their region, nation or even the world on the platform. After that all of the other people vote and express their opinion on the matter. If they think the issue is important they can share it and invite others to participate in the voting. In addition to everything else VoteFront also introduces the concept of global democracy - an idea that doesn't exist in working order at this point. The platform allows people from all over the world, with no regard to their nationality, race or religion to vote on issues that concern the whole planet.
The project is still under development and it’s currently open for public funding on Indiegogo.
