Sustainable Performance Solutions Expands Its Caribbean Presence

SPS has joined with Green Energy Solutions Partners to establish an office in Grand Cayman in order to expand its rapidly growing Caribbean business.

Fort Lauderdale, FL, March 17, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Larry Clark, principal of Sustainable Performance Solutions LLC, a South Florida-based energy and sustainability consulting firm has joined Frank Slifka, managing partner of Green Energy Solutions Partners LLC, a Florida provider of energy efficiency products and solutions, to open an office in Grand Cayman. This presence, which is planning to locate in Cayman Enterprise City, Grand Cayman, will allow both Clark and Slifka to expand their rapidly growing Caribbean business activities. Clark will continue to focus on providing certified energy audits at all levels, from “walk-thru” to investment grade; performing energy efficiency and sustainability studies, including energy modeling; and high performance building commissioning services. He will also assist Caribbean clients in obtaining Green Globes and LEED® certifications for their commercial buildings. Slifka will be concentrating on leading-edge energy efficiency solutions such as solar energy – solar air conditioning, photovoltaic electric generation, and solar thermal hot water heating – and LED lighting solutions with lifetime warranties.

About Clark – Lawrence (Larry) Clark, previously served as Director of Corporate Business Development at Hill York – at that time, Florida’s largest independently-owned mechanical contractor -- and was actively engaged with its Hygreen Energy Solutions group from launch in early 2008 until he formed SPS in September 2010. His previous experience includes such diverse assignments as president, vice president, and regional manager at MEPCO (formerly the Dunham Division of Dunham-Bush); and regional manager at Vapor Power, when it was part of Westinghouse Air Brake. Clark is a graduate engineer (B.S.E.E.), a certified Green Globes Professional, a LEED® AP with O+M specialty credential, a Certified Commercial Energy Auditor; a Florida Water Starsm Certifier; and a Qualified Commissioning Process Provider (QCxP). Clark is the author of nearly two dozen published HVAC and energy related articles and is a frequent speaker and presenter on chiller plant optimization, metering and submetering, and advanced ventilation strategies. He is a member of various professional organizations including ASHRAE, IEEE and USGBC South Florida (2011-12 chair of Broward Green Schools Committee), is a Green Building Certification Institute USGBC Education Reviewer, and serves on the BOMA Florida Energy Committee, the City of Pompano Beach (Florida) Recycling and Solid Waste Committee, HPAC Engineering’s Editorial Advisory Board and the Smart Growth Partnership Board of Directors. He also writes a bi-weekly blog on industry topics – “Clark’s Remarks” – for HPAC Engineering.

About Slifka – Frank Slifka relocated to the Bahamas in 1985, where he began to learn about energy and power plants. Because the primary power plant was customer-owned, electric energy costs were not excessive. He moved to the Cayman Islands in 1989, and concentrated on reducing energy consumption, using improved insulation, radiant foil and coatings; better doors and windows; and renewable energy sources, particularly solar. In 2002, Slifka moved to Florida and, for the next several years, worked with an independent builder on an energy efficient home in Port St. Lucie. That project, 2,500 ft2 with pool, averaged total energy costs of less than $120/month, and utilized solar domestic hot water and pool heating, variable speed pool pump, radiant barrier foil and R39 attic insulation, double pane low e coated windows, solar screen on the east, south and west facing windows, and the best programmable thermostat then available. The house was HERS rated, in 2008, at 48. Slifka then joined Climatic Solar, selling solar PV, LED and induction lighting systems, and reflective coatings. He was part of the team that built a 2,500 ft2 net zero energy home in Sewall’s Point in 2010 and he assisted St. Lucie County in the creation of the Solar Energy Loan Fund (SELF), and was involved in all the meetings for the Martin County Strategic Energy Master Plan, adopted in November 2011. He is currently working on commercial projects from Miami through Vero Beach, Florida, and throughout the Caribbean.

About Cayman Enterprise City – CEC is a knowledge and technology focused Special Economic Zone in the Cayman Islands.
