April 16th Recital Hemmle Recital Hall

Texas TechTM School of Music

The Texas TechTM School of Music Graduate Brass Quintet will be presenting their annual Spring Recital on April 16th in Hemmle Recital Hall at 8:00 P.M. The recital will feature pieces by John Cheetham, Victor Ewald, and Tôn-Thất Tiết. The Graduate Quintet is comprised of musicians from around the world. Each member of the ensemble is a graduate doctoral student enrolled at the School of Music working and performing with fellow students and faculty.

The Graduate Brass Quintet members represent The Lubbock Symphony Orchestra (LSO) as the LSO Educational Brass Quintet. The quintet travels to various elementary schools in the Lubbock area giving educational concerts. Each member educates the audience about their specific instrument as well as the music being performed enlightening future music students about small ensemble music and brass instrumentation. In addition the group performs at several retirement facilities in the area, which is always an entertaining show both for the group and the audience.

The programmed music is diverse in literature and demanding for the ensemble. Overall the music will bring forth happiness, sadness, intensity, honor, and celebration. This is a concert not to be missed. The Graduate Brass Quintets members have been together since August of 2013 and continue to grow musically as well as being recognized at Texas TechTM and in the community.
