)-- Water Planet Engineering’s Vorti-SEP® water treatment technology was selected to treat and recycle wastewater generated as part of BMW’s month-long launch event for their new i8 and i3 plug–in hybrid vehicles in Santa Monica, California.
Vorti-SEP® is a patent-pending integrated mechanical and membrane-based separation system. The systems employ unique hydraulic design and advanced automation and controls, which allow the systems to adapt to variable influent quality and fouling conditions in real-time. Vorti-SEP® systems are available in containerized or open skid- mounted configurations with standard designs up to 1 million gallons per day.
“We are very excited about the opportunity to help BMW create an environmentally friendly launch for their new hybrid vehicles. Our Vorti-SEP® technology offers the most compact, effective and reliable solution available to treat challenging industrial waters,” said Dr. Eric M.V. Hoek, CEO and co-founder of Water Planet.
During the month long event Water Planet’s system took in wastewater with highly variable influent water quality and delivered consistently high levels of water purification while automatically maintaining and cleaning itself. “The exceptional water treatment performance, operational robustness and system reliability are the results of many years of research and development by our team of water treatment experts,” said Dr. Subir Bhattacharjee, CTO and co-founder of Water Planet.
"Water Planet has been a fantastic partner for BMW, providing an ideal wastewater treatment system and knowledgeable engineering services to completely manage our water treatment needs," said Norbert Seiter, Managing Director of Nussli (Cz) spd. Nussli is BMW’s event coordinator for the event.
