Gas Safe Register Looking for Gas Safety "Heroes"

The Gas Safe Register is on the look out for Gas Safety Heroes in advance of Gas Safety Week in September.

London, United Kingdom, May 17, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The Gas Safe Register is on the look-out for Gas Safe Heroes, so if you know anyone who has a passion for gas safety and has helped to improve the safety of individuals, communities and families, why not encourage them to put themselves forward?

Chief executive of the body Russell Kramer noted that during Gas Safety Week - which runs from September 15th to 21st, one of the things the organisation wishes to do is to highlight the good work performed by registered engineers. Therefore, it wishes to collect engineers' stories about how they have helped to improve public safety.

Anyone who has gone above and beyond the call of duty, such as those who have helped to evacuate people from premises in the event of a gas emergency, those who have repaired shoddy gas work that could have led to explosions, fire and carbon monoxide poisoning, and those who have held community events to inform people about the dangers of gas appliances, could find themselves as one of the Gas Safe Register's heroes.

Some of these heroes may find they receive some media interest - the Gas Safe Register wants its heroes to speak to the media about some of the dangerous gas work they have experienced and to provide the public with information about gas safe. Engineers who are happy to speak to the media can nominate themselves to be a Gas Safe Register representative once they have signed up to register their story.

Mr Kramer explained that Gas Safety Week intends to bring the issue of gas safety to the forefront of the public's mind. This ambition can only be effectively realised if the sector itself collaborates and unites.

Commenting on the initiative, Kevin Burke, of boiler breakdown cover specialists 24/7 Home Rescue, said:

"Gas safe heroes keep us safe every day.

"Take advantage of the Gas Safe Register's initiative to praise those who work diligently to protect innocent members of the public."

To keep gas safe, people should:
- Only use Gas Safe Registered engineers for all work on gas appliances
