Mr. Mitha participated as a plastics industry expert in a YPO global conference call, an interactive discussion wherein he spoke on the global outlook and regional challenges with respect to PE, PP and PVC. Covered in Mr. Mitha’s presentation were several prevailing issues such as the economic conditions in the US, Europe, China, Japan and India, with a special focus on MINT (Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria, Turkey), the shale gas revolution and its impact on petrochemical markets globally and the prospects of the coal-to-olefins (CTO) and methanol-to-olefins (MTO) projects in China.
Being an expert in the field of analysis and predicting the behavior of petrochemical markets worldwide, Mr. Mitha then discoursed on the supply–demand scenario of the most commonly traded commodity polymers, PP, PE and PVC. Mr. Mitha detailed the workings of the petrochemical industry and informed the YPO Plastics network about the contribution of the entire value chain, from producers to end users. Each of the three products was discussed in detail and analyses for the next 10 years based on current plant operating rates and future capacity additions were presented to the audience.
Mr. Mitha’s presentation was applauded and much appreciated by the YPO members.
