ABM Announces Charity Golf Invitational to Raise Funds for College Business Media Internships

July 30 Tournament Benefits the Business Press Educational Foundation’s Internship Program.

Washington, DC, June 04, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The Association of Business Information & Media Companies (ABM) – a division of the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the leading association representing the software and digital content industries – today announced that it will host the Harold W. McGraw, Jr. Invitational. The golf tournament, which will be held on July 30 at the Blind Brook Club in Purchase, New York, was created in order to raise funds for the Business Press Educational Foundation (BPEF), a program that connects college students with internships at business media companies in either editorial or non-editorial roles.

The Harold W. McGraw Invitational is named in honor of the late McGraw-Hill Companies chairman, who also founded BPEF. Since its establishment in 1985, BPEF has placed over 700 students in internships with leading business-to-business media companies focusing on content, design, audience development and e-media. BPEF also actively promotes the business media industry nationwide through various scholarships for high-achieving undergraduate or graduate students pursuing a degree in journalism or publishing.

“The goal of BPEF and this golf tournament is help make certain that the next generation of business-to-business media professionals is well educated and savvy,” said ABM Managing Director Mike Marchesano. “The Harold W. McGraw Invitational honors McGraw’s commitment to cultivating young talent through raising funds that will provide financial assistance and internship opportunities. Our goal is to inspire learning and advance our industry by helping students pay for their education and giving them real-world, hands-on experience.”

The Harold W. McGraw Invitational also includes a luncheon as well as a reception and awards ceremony.
