)-- Advaita Bioinformatics today announced the addition of its iPathwayGuide application to BaseSpace Apps, Illumina’s applications store and informatics community dedicated to advancing genomic analysis.
iPathwayGuide is a web based pathway analysis tool that goes beyond the typical statistical over-representation analysis by taking into account the pathway topology from a systems biology perspective. Advaita has demonstrated that this approach can significantly reduce the number of false positive and false negative results produced by most competing tools. iPathwayGuide also highlights coherent chains of perturbation propagation and drug targets directly on the pathway, so users can quickly focus on potential points of interest. The application provides quick access to a wide array of analyses including: gene analysis, gene-ontology analysis, pathway analysis, drug pathway mapping and disease associations. iPathwayGuide is the only gene-expression analysis tool that goes beyond simple associations and provides a deeper, richer, more comprehensive pathway level analysis.
“We are very excited to offer our iPathwayGuide application to the growing users of Illumina’s BaseSpace,” said Andrew Olson, VP of Business Development at Advaita. “The integration of our tool in BaseSpace will allow the users to seamlessly pipeline their gene expression data and perform a variety of analyses. iPathwayGuide is the most comprehensive systems biology tool available that considers the role and function of each gene to produce to produce biologically meaningful results.”
Advaita Bioinformatics, founded in 2005, is focusing on the mission to bridge the gap between the ability to collect biological data and the ability to interpret it through the use of advanced computational methods. Advaita's vision is to leverage advanced computational methods to dramatically reduce drug-development costs, make personalized medicine a clinical reality and shift the emphasis from treating disease to pre-symptomatic detection. Advaita’s analytical tools have helped researchers from premier organizations to translate gigabytes of experimental data into meaningful knowledge. iPathwayGuide is the first web application capable of identifying mechanisms of action and potential drug targets directly from gene-expression experiments. This unique ability can empower users to quickly identify potential drug targets and drug candidates, avoiding costly dead ends.
