About Montessori Discovery School.
MDS was founded in 1974 in Norwich, CT. MDS is a place where children share responsibility for their own education by selecting their learning activities from within a structured framework. They help to create a caring classroom community where all are valued and respected. The children also share in caring for their environment: feeding classroom animals, cleaning spills, and putting their work away. Primary students care for our flock of hens; elementary students care for our two llamas. During their years here, children are guided by certified Montessori teachers and trained assistants, so they may truly develop to their greatest potential.
