Baylor Grad, Agribusiness Supporter Announces Intent to File for Candidacy for Potter County Justice of the Peace No. 3

Trenton Garza announced on July 15, 2014 his intent to file for candidacy as a write-in candidate against incumbent Judge Gary L. Jackson. Mr. Garza is a noted young leader in the Baylor community, has interviewed with HuffPost Live and NBC News on social and political topics, and supports agribusiness initiatives.

Amarillo, TX, July 30, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Trenton Garza of Bushland, Texas announced today his intent to file and pursue the Justice of the Peace position for Potter County’s Precinct 3 in the 2014 General Election. The boundaries of Precinct 3 encompass a northwest area of Amarillo, the northernmost portion of the River Road area, an easternmost area of Valle de Oro, and the easternmost area of Wilderado, as well as the entirety of the Bishop Hills and Bushland communities. The office is currently held by the Hon. Judge Gary Jackson (R, Amarillo).

In Texas, the filing period for write-in candidacy begins the 19th of July and concludes the 18th of August (Tex. Elec. Code Ann. § 146.025). Trenton will file a Declaration of Write-In Candidacy for Justice of the Peace for Potter County Precinct 3 with Potter County Judge Arthur Ware during this time frame. The general election is scheduled for November 4, 2014.

The Garza family moved to Potter County in September of 2008 and to Bushland two months later. Trenton is a graduate of Bushland High School’s Class of 2010. He also attended Baylor University where he excelled academically, having taken courses that included Constitutional Law, American Public Policy, Logic, and Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement; he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and Philosophy in May of 2014.

Trenton resides with his family in the Prairie West neighborhood in north Bushland. His sister graduated from Bushland High School in May and will be attending the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas beginning in the Fall 2014 semester.

Having served in numerous positions such as a Representative on the United Way of Amarillo and Canyon Youth Cabinet, Baylor student senator, and as the Communication Director and later President of a non-profit executive board, Trenton has a proven record of dedicated leadership and commitment serving the community.
