Design Like Mad, Madison's Annual Design Marathon, Brings Together Local Design Pros and Students

Design Like Mad 2014 is less than one month away.

Madison, WI, August 31, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Design Like Mad, Madison's annual 12-hour design marathon, is taking place Saturday, September 27th at the Madison Public Library: Central Library. Design Like Mad pairs graphic and web designers, architects, interior designers, and developers with local non-profits to provide pro-bono design work in a 1-day marathon. The event was created to help deserving Madison-area non-profit organizations with design projects that they wouldn’t otherwise have the resources to complete, to create a stronger community of designers, to encourage students to work professionally and develop their design skills, and to assist the local Madison community in a creative way.

This is the second year Design Like Mad will take place. Last year Design Like Mad paired 60 designers and developers with 21 non-profits.

“I realized shortly after I graduated in 2011 that many design communities around the US are very fragmented. Unlike developers and entrepreneurs, designers have very few opportunities to collaborate and learn from one another, “ said Abby Larner, founder of Design Like Mad, “I thought Design Like Mad would be the perfect chance for local designers to work together to make a positive difference in the Madison community.”

The non-profit application period has closed and the designer application period is now underway. The application for designers to participate in the event must be completed by midnight, Friday the 29th.

Design Like Mad is open to the public. On September 27th, visitors of the event will have the opportunity to stop by, see what the designers are working on, and learn more about the non-profit organization. Visit the Design Like Mad website to find out more.
