Governor Brown Appoints ECF President Scott Bowling to California's Board of Behavioral Sciences

Culver City, CA, September 18, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Exceptional Children’s Foundation (ECF) is proud to announce that California Governor Jerry Brown has appointed Scott Bowling, Psy.D., President and CEO of the Exceptional Children’s Foundation (ECF), to the California Department of Consumer Affairs Board of Behavior Sciences (BBS) for a four-year term.

"I am honored by this appointment to the Board of Behavioral Sciences and thank Governor Brown for his support. I look forward to bringing attention to the need for quality mental health services and advocating for improved care. I also look forward to sharing mental health successes learned by the Exceptional Children's Foundation," said Scott Bowling, Psy.D., President and CEO of ECF.

The mission of the BBS is to protect Californians by advocating for improved mental health services as well as determining and enforcing standards. The BBS is the California state regulatory agency responsible for licensing for Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), Licensed Educational Psychologists (LEP), and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCC). The Board also works alongside other mental health agencies and organizations to advocate for increased consumer awareness and access to mental health services.

The Board is composed of 13 members. The Governor appoints 11, the Speaker of the Assembly appoints one, and the Senate Committee on Rules appoints another. The Board and its committees meet several times during the year throughout California.
