Toronto, Canada, September 17, 2014 --(PR.com)-- A monstrous 4.5-foot Mosasaur skull from Morocco highlights the many prehistoric and geological treasures found at Fossil Realm’s September show on Sept. 27-28 in Vaughan, just north of Toronto. The two-day open house and sale features the 200-pound skull alongside a staggering array of intriguing and one-of-a-kind pieces from around the world.

For more than 30 years, Fossil Realm’s father and son team, Jim and Peter Lovisek, have scoured the globe to bring Canadians and collectors worldwide these pieces.

The September open house features the highly anticipated Mosasaur skull, which just arrived from a laboratory in Utah where the bones were removed from the surrounding rock and assembled into a 3D skull.

The fossil dates back to the Cretaceous Period and is priced at USD $120,000. The skull belonged to a a 35-foot predatory marine lizard that once roamed the ancient oceans more than 70 million years ago.

“It’s hard to imagine the biting force of this ancient beast, which would have dwarfed the largest crocodile and doubled the length of a great white shark,” says Jim Lovisek, who appeared in spring 2014 on CBC’s Four Rooms, where he sold a rare ammonite for $12,000.

Since the mid-1970s, the Lovisek family has professionally collected and sold fossils and minerals. Their Fossil Realm showroom and warehouse opened in Vaughan in 2010 as a venue for their world-class collection and to host open house sales, which are held throughout the year.

Nowhere else in the Toronto Area will you find such an eclectic mix of natural wonders for sale. From mammoth tusks and meteorites to amethyst geodes and exotic shells, there’s something for everyone at Fossil Realm. All budgets are accommodated and admission is free.

Fossil Realm is located at 60 Basaltic Rd., Unit 18 in Vaughan (Keele and Hwy. 7). The open house runs Sept. 27-28, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
