Shock and trauma are infused in every aspect of the school shooting in Marysville, Washington. Zimberoff and Hartman, the authors of "Overcoming Shock: Healing the Traumatized Mind and Heart" (New Horizon Press, Dec., 2014) can be reached immediately for comment.

Zimberoff notes: "When people experience a traumatic event, they can have both emotional and physical responses. While trauma is recorded in us psychologically, shock is recorded physiologically. If stress is triggered by a memory or experience long after the initial traumatic event, we can suffer from recurring shock."

Zimberoff and Hartman are co-founders of The Wellness Institute in Issaquah and specialize in trauma resolution and stress-related illnesses. They focus on providing tools for successful treatment of people who suffer from debilitating patterns caused by shock in their lives.
