Infrastructure for Systems Biology Europe to Publish Industry Survey

On 2 June, the Infrastructure for Systems Biology Europe (ISBE) will publish the results of its industry survey for opinion on the application of systems biology to companies across the European Union (EU).

Brussels, Belgium, May 18, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The Infrastructure for Systems Biology Europe (ISBE) will publish the results of its industry survey for opinion on the application of systems biology to companies across the European Union (EU) on 2 June.

At the office of ISC – Intelligence in Science at Rue du Trône ISBE will host a breakfast meeting of industry representatives and EU policy-makers to discuss the survey’s policy implications and the role of ISBE in delivering innovation for in the discipline of systems biology. The survey, commissioned by ISBE, and funded under the 7th EU Framework Programme for Research, was designed to gauge opinion from across European industrial sectors involved with the discipline of ‘systems biology’.

Companies working in research, providing consultancy services, development and manufacturing of pharmaceutical and biological products have provided an insight into how systems biology could be better performed across the European Union. Representatives from ISBE will present the results of the survey to elaborate on what could be the potential products and services that this Research Infrastructure could provide in facilitating research using a systems biology approach.

Carole Goble CBE, Professor of Computer Science at the University of Manchester and a senior member of the ISBE consortium, will chair the event and ISBE representatives from a number of leading systems biology centres in Europe, including the UK, Germany, Netherlands and Ireland, will be in attendance.

Note To Editors:

The Infrastructure for Systems Biology Europe (ISBE)

The Infrastructure for Systems Biology Europe http://project.isbe.eu/ is currently in the preparatory phase and has been awarded three years of funding from August 2012 under the European Commission’s 7th Framework Programme (FP7) as one of 13 European Strategic Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) projects in the field of Biological and Medical Sciences. The overall goal of the ISBE infrastructure is to create a pan-European infrastructure for systems biology that empowers life scientists to understand living organisms to a much higher level of precision and in a predictive way.

European Research Infrastructures

Research infrastructures (RIs) play an increasingly important role in the advancement of knowledge and technology. They are a key instrument in bringing together a wide diversity of stakeholders to look for solutions to many of the problems society is facing today. RIs offer unique research services to users from different countries, attract young people to science, and help to shape scientific communities.
