U.S. Department of Energy Recognizes Mandalay Homes with 2015 Housing Innovation Award

For the third year in a row the U.S. Department of Energy recognizes Arizona home builder Mandalay Homes with a Housing Innovation Award.

Prescott, AZ, August 12, 2015 --(PR.com)-- For the third year in a row the U.S. Department of Energy recognizes Mandalay Homes with a Housing Innovation Award. This is a significant accomplishment for the Arizona residential home builder. The DOE Housing Innovation Award is given to home builders paving the way for the rest of the U.S. housing industry to provide zero energy ready homes that are better for the nation, communities, and individual homeowners.

Since 2008 the DOE Builders Challenge program has pushed home builders like Mandalay Homes to reach a higher level of home performance with rigorous requirements. David Everson, the President of Mandalay Homes, has risen to this challenge. In 2013 Mandalay was the Grand Award winner of the DOE Housing Innovation Award in the 'Affordable Builders' category. In 2014 they proudly took home the DOE award in the 'Production Builders' category, as they have again this year.

This isn't the only honor Mandalay has received for their green building efforts. In May of this year they received an EPA Indoor airPLUS Leader Award for their outstanding commitment to indoor air quality. They are the first builder to earn both the EPA and DOE awards. "We love to be ahead of the curve and building with the very best, most innovative products and techniques available. We have set, and maintained, a goal to build all our homes with a HERS rating of 50 or less. Winning national awards like this make us proud to know we're leading the way in how homes get designed and built for the better. Mandalay Homes strives to build homes that have outstanding levels of energy savings, comfort, health, durability, and sustainability."

Mandalay Homes will receive its award and also be in the running to win the “Grand Award” prize at an award ceremony at the Excellence in Building Conference and Expo in Denver, Colorado on October 6, 2015.
