Solar Energy Industry Adding Middle-Class Jobs to Colorado's Economy, Says EcoMark Solar

Denver-based EcoMark Solar is adding staff along Colorado's Front Range.

Denver, CO, August 26, 2015 --(PR.com)-- If you’re looking for a good-paying job with benefits, the solar energy industry is worth considering. Job statistics for Colorado in 2014 show 4,200 people employed in the solar industry, up 600 since 2013.

Today, the U.S. solar industry employs 174,000 Americans nationwide – more than tech giants Apple, Google, Facebook and Twitter combined – and pumps nearly $18 billion a year into the economy.

In 2014, Colorado installed 67 MW of solar electric capacity, ranking it 13th nationally. One of the largest local companies currently hiring is EcoMark Solar. Although the company is based in Denver, it does business all along the Front Range.

“Growth in the solar energy industry is good for Colorado because the positions are real, middle-class jobs,” explains Alex Valdez, president and CEO of EcoMark Solar. “Three years ago, we had only a handful of employees while today we have 80. Most of these positions are full time with benefits, averaging in the $40,000 a year range.

“We’re looking for people who are passionate about our mission of expanding solar energy to more people in more communities and who have training at schools such as the EcoTech Institute or Red Rocks Community College,” Valdez continues. “Once they have the basic training, we train them on our systems and products, and provide leadership training for installation crew leaders.”
