Lake County Adopts Advanced Elections Technology for Voter Check-in
New AskEDĀ® ePollbooks to improve voter experience and support extended Grace Registration and Same Day Voter Registration for Lake County, Illinois
Waukegan, IL, September 18, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Robis Elections, a leader in technological innovation, announced that Lake County, Illinois recently selected their touchscreen AskED® ePollbook to support the recent mandatory changes in Illinois election law that extends Grace Registration through Election Day. The Lake County Clerk’s office will implement Robis Elections’ touchscreen AskED® ePollbook beginning with the March 2016 Presidential Primary Election.
According to Carla N. Wyckoff, Lake County Clerk, “In addition to aiding our compliance with new statutory requirements, this new automated resource will help reduce paper, printing and storage costs, and make the post-election posting of voter history more efficient.” Electronic pollbooks will replace the traditional pre-printed paper applications in all early and Election Day voting sites. The touch-screen keyboard tablet will provide instant voter history updates to the Clerk’s office while the polls are open and help the judges streamline the check-in process during elections.
The number of registered voters in Lake County has increased to an all-time high of more than 412,000 voters. The Clerk’s Voter Services Department processes an average of 1,500 new voter registration applications each month.
“Not only does the AskED® ePollbook improve the voter’s experience, this solution allows the County to monitor how the election administration is progressing at the voting sites in real-time,” commented David Davoust, President of Robis Elections. “This helps the County ensure that nothing interrupts voting, and that Election Day runs as smoothly as possible. Plus, the AskED ePollbook eliminates the need for early morning delivery of updated voter lists. We look forward to serving Lake County during such an important election year.”
About the AskED® ePollbook: Robis Elections created the unique AskED® product suite to solve Election Day issues on-site and off-site with accuracy and consistency, including same day voter registration. Lake County’s solution is designed for the non-technical pollworker with large text and oversized buttons utilizing touchscreen hardware.
