Ronald McDonald House Launches Social Ambassador Program

The Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill, announces a new Social Media Ambassador Program and enlists former UNC basketball player Jawad Williams in advance of its grand opening later this month.

Chapel Hill, NC, October 09, 2015 --(PR.com)-- George Marut, Senior Director of Development at the Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill, announced the launch of a new Social Ambassador Program in advance of its grand opening later this month. Mr. Marut said, “I am proud to introduce Jawad Williams as our first Social Ambassador. He is an athlete and philanthropist dedicated to our mission of providing hope and healing for families of seriously ill children in the Chapel Hill area and across the state of North Carolina.”

Jawad Williams is a former UNC basketball player and member of the 2005 National Championship team. Currently he plays for Royal Hali Gaziantep of the Turkish Basketball League. Through the “Strive to Excel” program that he founded, Mr. Williams helps to prepare young people to be future leaders by teaching them the necessary skills to excel in life. Mr. Marut added, “I am confident that with his heart for children, Mr. Williams will do an amazing job of spreading our message in the community.”

The Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill also has an urgent need for funding and is close to meeting its Make Room for Hope capital campaign goal of $7.6 million. If the Ronald McDonald House is able to raise an additional $150,000 by October 8, 2015, generous donors have pledged to make a $50,000 donation to complete the campaign. “The response of the community to our capital campaign has been gratifying,” Mr. Marut said. “We have a stellar opportunity to wrap up our campaign before we officially open our doors to the families who need the House so desperately.”
