OHEL to Open New Residence for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities

New York, NY, March 02, 2017 --(PR.com)-- OHEL Children’s Home and Family Services is thrilled to have been approved by the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities of New York (OPWDD) to open an additional home for a number of young men with developmental disabilities in the New York area.

The only people even happier are the families of the individuals this new OHEL Bais Ezra home will serve. The parents, together with OHEL, petitioned OPWDD about the benefits and necessity of this home to their adult children and their respective families. If not for their dedication, support and teamwork, this application would never have succeeded.

Pam and Jeff Lieberman one of the parents involved said, “We are absolutely overjoyed about the future for our son and the other young men. We now know he has a home to experience the next chapter in his life and are excited he has the opportunity to succeed in his life’s journey.”

Rachel Lewitter, a Director at OHEL Bais Ezra commented that “this achievement for OHEL is even more noteworthy because OPWDD received over one hundred proposals from different agencies requesting new services.”

The new home is a unique opportunity to expand OHEL’s residential services. The new home will be a person-centric project to help young men live their lives with respect, dignity and growth.

Very importantly, the new home will provide these families with peace of mind, with the knowledge that OHEL is not just building a place of accommodation, but a loving, caring and nurturing environment called home, where their adult children will thrive.
