Loftis Students Show Their Skills to Support the Arts

Loftis Middle School PTA will be hosting an art and talent showcase to help support the fine arts at school. Visual arts will be on display. Talent show acts vary from singing, dancing, baton twirling, a DJ, and more.

Hixson, TN, May 06, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Loftis Middle School wants the public to get ready for Loftis’ Got Talent. The Loftis Middle School PTA will be hosting a show to benefit the arts programs at school. Loftis’ Got Talent will feature students from Loftis showing their best talents from the piano, singing, dancing, baton twirling, and even a DJ. In addition, there will be a visual art show and art contest for the community to enjoy.

While the show will be a fun way for the public to get to see and enjoy the talents of students, the show’s own talent will be helping out the fine arts programs at Loftis Middle. All of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the chorus, band, and art programs at Loftis. The arts programs at Loftis are successful, and that success comes with a cost. Currently, activity fees from students make up the majority of the funding for these programs. For the band, costs to maintain instruments will be nearly $5,000 each year. While the music they play is beautiful, it doesn’t come for free. Each piece of music purchased costs approximately $100. With four bands and multiple concerts each year, the cost for music can be great. The band isn’t alone in the high costs of having a music program. The choral department must spend nearly $3,000 each year to have music, in addition to the cost of taking care of pianos and more. Visual arts costs thousands to run as well with so many consumable supplies being needed. Somehow, though, the teachers and school always seem to make it work for each of the students who want to be involved in those amazing programs. The PTA hopes that the community will come out to support this event, and the arts, to provide some much-needed funds for the arts programs. Support from the community can go a long way toward a new piece of music, tuning a tuba, and fixing a kiln in school. Not only will the there be a talent and art show, but the PTA will have auction baskets on site and be accepting donations to go directly to the arts programs.
