Laurel, MD, May 19, 2017 --(PR.com)-- The DCLA arts is pleased to present a solo exhibition of Arpitha Parthasarathy’s new clayboard/scratch work featuring in Sip at C- Street, 24 C- Street #100, Laurel, Maryland 20707. The exhibition will run from July 30th, 2017 – August 27th, 2017 with an opening reception on August 17th from 5.30-7.30p.m. The exhibition features Wildlife Conservation using scratchboard and clayboard art as a medium.

This show emphasizes on clayboard art where color has been stripped away by scratching with x-acto scalpel leaving versatility, skill and overall interesting work. For example, Arpitha’s art displays fun and joy like the piece “Hearty Meal” of an oriental kingfisher scratched to show the iridescent vibrant colors. On the other-hand is the black and white artwork of a dancer that becomes more intense, forced to stand alone showing various shades of grey and depth of emotions. All her artwork can be viewed with a magnifying glass provided at the venue to capture details on miniatures or on regular sized artwork.

The artist’s will be present at the opening reception Thursday, August 17th from 5.30-7.30p.m. She will demonstrate the process of clayboard/scratchboard techniques electronically and will accept commissions/questions.
