The February Edition of the Kirkus Discoveries Newsletter Features iUniverse Authors

New York, NY, February 16, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Four iUniverse titles, Rachel and Aleks by Sylvia Smoller, Gittin’ Western by Duane Wiltse, Chinese Culture, Western Culture by Tai P. Ng and Wah-Won Ng and Fallow’s Field by Dennis McKay received excellent reviews in the February 2008 issue of the Kirkus Discoveries e-newsletter.

In Rachel and Aleks, Sylvia Smoller pens a sweeping historical novel that shares the story of a couple, which includes a Polish Jewish woman, caught in the momentous upheavals of World War II. After giving a description of Rachel and Aleks, the Kirkus Discoveries review says, “Smoller’s detailed, engaging portrait of both the period and Rachel’s emotional maturation aptly demonstrates how extreme forces can mold — even fortify — a life.”

In the iUniverse Star title Gittin’ Western, longtime Western hunting guide and big game outfitter from Wyoming, Duane Wiltse, pens an entertaining and touching memoir that shares his first-hand lessons of life and death. Kirkus Discoveries describes the book as “a cautionary template for those looking to put some wild in their lives, but a real-time, enticing template nevertheless.”

Tai P. Ng and Wah-Won Ng come together to write Chinese Culture, Western Culture, an innovative cultural study that explores how we can benefit from finding the commonalities of Chinese and Western cultures and optimize global business and social relationships. Kirkus Discoveries calls the book, “an excellent resource for those who live and work at a place where Chinese and Western viewpoints coincide.”

Fallow’s Field comes from Dennis McKay. In the novel, still waters run deep on a small 19th century Kansas farm as one man decides whether to continue hiding from life or find meaning with a beautiful and loving woman. According to the Kirkus Discoveries Review, the book is, “a well-tilled field.”

The Kirkus Discoveries monthly e-newsletter showcases the best books reviewed during the past month. The newsletter is sent to a targeted base of subscribers, including agents, editors, librarians and individuals looking to acquire the print and film rights to books and unpublished manuscripts.
