East Bay Dentist Helps Kids on Halloween

Total Health Dental Care Runs “Cash For Candy” Program to Benefit Children’s Hospital and Reward Health-Conscious Children. Kids get $3 per lb. of donated candy and the practice matches the total reward amount in a charitable contribution to the hospital.

Oakland, CA, October 24, 2017 --(PR.com)-- A positive alternative to heavy candy intake on Halloween, Total Health Dental Care will run its fifth Cash for Candy program to financially support Children’s Hospital and reward kids who value their health. From November 2nd through 9th, all children under 13 who turn in their Halloween candy will receive $3.00 per pound and no less than $3.00 each. Total Health Dental Care will match the total reward amount and donate it to Children’s Hospital. The candy will be discarded.

An advocate for healthy teeth and healthy living, Dr. Sepand Hokmabadi, DDS, initiated Cash for Candy to make a positive difference on several levels. Supporting the mission of Children’s Hospital to help children get well promotes a healthier community, stronger families, and an emphasis on wellness. Rewarding kids for turning in their candy helps them understand the unhealthy truth about candy while giving them a virtuous way to help others.

“Every dentist will tell you that candy is bad for teeth. However, I can tell you that all the chemicals, food dyes, preservatives, and sweeteners are also bad for your total health,” says Dr. Hokmabadi. “This program gives families the opportunity to discuss smarter, healthier choices that lead to stronger teeth and healthier bodies. It also motivates children to do good for themselves and others. The kids in Children’s Hospital will really appreciate it.”

Last year, Cash for Candy rewarded kids with $3000 and donated the same amount to Children’s Hospital. This year, those numbers are expected to improve as more families are acquainted with the program.

Cash for Candy will run during business hours November 2–9. Families can visit any Total Health Dental Care office in Piedmont, Old Oakland, Montclair, or Berkeley. Addresses are available on their website.
