A PowerEdge R740xd Performed the Database Analytics Work of 10 Five-Year-Old Servers, According to Principled Technologies Study

Durham, NC, July 10, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Principled Technologies (PT) ran a data warehouse workload on four Dell EMC PowerEdge server configurations to demonstrate the analytics capabilities of the new PowerEdge R740xd, powered by 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors. Those configurations were:

· Dell PowerEdge R720xd with HDDs only
· Dell EMC PowerEdge R730xd with SATA SSDs
· Dell EMC PowerEdge R740xd with SATA SSDs
· Dell EMC PowerEdge R740xd with NVMe SSDs

Per the test report, PT found that the Dell EMC PowerEdge R740xd “handled more analytics queries than the legacy servers while performing that work in less time.” For example, whereas the PowerEdge R720xd took over an hour to run a single query set, the PowerEdge R740xd with NVMe SSDs ran ten query sets in less than three and a half minutes.
