Sigma Books Releases Election Year Thriller

Mind Control: A Brad West thriller features mind control methods during a presidential election.

Washington, DC, March 09, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Sigma Books has just released Mind Control, its second Brad West Thriller. Piggybacking on the success of the first thriller: Water Torture, Sigma Books' new launch features the same zany cast of characters solving another international crime.

Mind Control is set during a US Presidential Election cycle, which Sigma Books recognizes as a highly topical subject. The action-comedy has a basic “jilted lover” storyline, set against a backdrop of economic collapse, tsunamis, faltering laboratories, secret government installations, and a rigged presidential election.

After using mind control techniques to affect the economy, a preacher-turned-politician is able to predict economic collapse. He hopes to emerge from the ashes of a fallen American economy to assume command of the nation. Meanwhile, his Chinese cohort, who lent him the brainwashing talents of a famous scientist, plans to topple China’s leadership as well.

The CIA suspects mischief behind the mayhem and calls on Brad West to return from his anthropological studies of ancient religions to research the origins of the disaster. Little does he know, his sweetheart May and her father, the mind control expert, have joined forces with the dark side.

Brad, feeling jilted by May’s disappearance, returns to America and travels from university to university, from San Francisco to Chicago to Boston to investigate the financial statistics given him by the CIA. Coming up empty-handed, struggling against a collapsing transportation system and a panicked public, and wrestling with his own feelings of infidelity, he is summoned to the underground Pentagon, Site R, near Camp David.

There he learns of Psychological Operations research that may be harming the nation. Armed with this new information, he thinks he knows who is behind the chaos: his old nemesis, May’s former lover, who has apparently won her back. With renewed energy, he flies to Las Vegas for the big showdown, only to be trapped in the crossfire of a CIA setup.
