Join Elderwerks Educational Services at McHenry County College on August 8th from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm for a free senior fair. There will be educational classes, 85+ local resources, free Starbucks coffee, donuts, live music, free lunch for the first 400 attendees and more.

Anyone who wants to age well should attend this free fair. Attendees will learn about issues facing all of us as we close in on retirement and issues that arise after retirement. The Fair is geared towards adults and seniors 50 and better.

· Protect Yourself from Investment Scams
Learn about current scams, red flags of fraud and ways you can avoid being a victim.

· Aging Gracefully: Life After Retirement
Learn about care and housing options as you age. Learn what do you need to know to select the right community or facility when the need arises.

· Your Medicare GPS: Navigating People on the Medicare Road and All the Changes
Medicare can be confusing. David Cheatham (Certified National Social Security Advisor), from Family Financial Solutions Group, Inc. will present “Your Medicare GPS”; what Medicare covers, He will dive into the future of Medicare and what you need to know; including changes for 2019. How to save money, and cost-saving tips. This is an educational workshop. David has educated Adults since 1996 and has spoken to thousands of people on the topic of Medicare since 2004.

· Fall Prevention: I'm Still Standing...
Contrary to popular belief, falls don't always "just happen." Over 50% of falls occur in adults age 55 and over. Life balance is an important aspect of fall prevention. Join Susan Grossinger, Senior Services Coordinator, Master Trainer of a Matter of Balance program at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital as she shares fall prevention tips so that we can maintain our independence and lead the life we desire long into our later years.

· How to Protect Yourself as You Age
Elder abuse happens. This seminar will discuss elder abuse such as financial exploitation, identity theft, verbal abuse & even physical abuse.

· Social Security Disability
Discussion on social security disability benefits for those 18 to 65 and benefits for those 65+

· Four Keys to Planning as a Caregiver
Elder caregiving is challenging, stress-inducing and complex. Most families have not planned for it. Presentation on legal issues that may arise: guardianship, divorce, powers of attorney, estate planning from a grandparent’s perspective.

· Veterans Benefits
Learn about a few VA benefits that aren't widely known about.

The resource booths are open from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm and include over 85 local resources. The free Elderwerks Senior Fair includes free Starbucks coffee, donuts, live music, therapy dogs, lunch for the first 400 attendees and much more.
