North Carolina's Research Triangle Welcomes New Triangle Basketball Association

Move over ACC, NBA...the Triangle Basketball Association (TBA) is here.

Raleigh, NC, July 10, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Since around 1959, Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, centrally located in the heart of North Carolina and each separated by less than an hour in driving time, have been collectively referred to as the Research Triangle area. As the name suggests, the region is abundantly rich in research, medicine, and technology. As well known as the area is for its contributions to society, the region is also famous for its historical and gloried basketball traditions. The rivalries between the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Tarheels), Duke University (Blue Devils), and North Carolina State University (Wolfpack), have entertained and excited basketball fans for generations. Looking to add to the exuberance of the game for players and fans in the area, MOC Sports, one of North Carolina’s fastest growing amateur sports league organizations, announced the tip-off of the new Triangle Basketball Association (TBA), set for July 25th, 2008.

Most noted for its extremely popular flag football program, known as the Triangle Area Flag Football League (TAFFL), which players and fans have deemed the NFL of flag football, MOC Sports has dedicated itself to becoming the one organization that changes the look and feel of amateur, or recreational, sports leagues. With that goal in mind, the MOC Sports group has launched an aggressive registration campaign, in which it hopes to add even more sports to its already existing lineup of sports leagues and tournament offerings. With the addition of the TBA, the company looks to be on its way.

“We’re enormously excited to bring another basketball outlet to the wonderful people of the Triangle community,” stated MOC Sports President and CEO Marcus Cole. “Because of the opulent basketball tradition in this region, we are certain the TBA will be a hit for a long time to come!”

Initially, the Triangle Basketball Association will only be open to adult males eighteen years of age and older, however the organization does plan to add youth and coed programs later in the year. Games will be played at Laurel Hills Recreation Center located at 3808 Edwards Mill Road, between 6:30 pm and 9:30 pm. Players and fans can expect a full regular season and post-season schedule, in-season and career statistical tracking, as well as access to the Triangle Basketball Association website located on the World Wide Web at www.trianglebball.com. Team and individual registration fee schedules are available and any interested person can either visit the website or call 919.337.3538 for more information.

Since 2003, MOC Sports has kept adult males in the Triangle and surrounding communities active by providing flag football leagues and tournaments. Most recently, the organization opened its doors to the women of the area, by successfully hosting its first season of TAFFL COED. The company has prided itself on offering sports leagues that emulate the professional ranks both on and off the playing surface, without the inflated paychecks. Besides the actual contest, participants are treated to a wide variety of activities throughout the season, including polls, contests, newsletters, in-depth analysis, and more. MOC Sports is also one of the only amateur/recreational organizations to offer a completely interactive All-Star feature that allows players to vote, as well as highlighting individual superstars with skills competitions.
