From UKA Press: World Wide Writing Competition

UKA Press joins UKAuthors to announce "Opening Pages 2008." This international competition for best beginnings to unpublished books will run from 31 August to 31 December 2008. Feedback will be provided by independent readers, as well as by 'Good Fairy' and 'Fiction Witch,' professional editors working as volunteers.

London, United Kingdom, August 21, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The competition is open to all writers in all countries, writing in any genre.

Entrants will receive feedback on the first 3,000 words of their book. The feedback will consist of a report (approx. five pages) from Fiction Witch and Good Fairy, and also reports and comments from four to ten (depending on the genre) manuscript readers. A set of tips, suggestions, and advice on submission, promotion, and presentation will also be sent to each entrant. The set will be approx. 70 pages in length.

Short listed entrants will be invited to submit their finished manuscript to the UKA Press to be considered for publication. The winner will be offered editorial support and publication of the completed manuscript by the UKA Press.

Previous winners include Tara Hanks, for 'The Mmm Girl: Marilyn Monroe, by herself'.

Entry fees are £5 for Entry Only, and $18 for Feedback Entry. All proceeds go towards supporting the continued existence of the UKAuthors.com writing site, to cover overheads and monthly costs and add new facilities. Organisers and judges, as well as readers and feedback editors, are volunteers.

'Opening Pages Competition 2008' will run from 31 August to 31 December
