Piggs Peak Makes Another Poker Millionaire

Darren Kramer aka “kingkramer” has proven that he is at the top of his poker game by winning the R3,000,000 All Africa Poker Tournament, which was hosted from the 13th to 17th August 2008 at Piggs Peak Hotel & Casino, Swaziland. Darren has become a familiar face at the AAPT and has made several final tables, however the title has always eluded him, until now that is.

Piggs Peak, Swaziland, August 21, 2008 --(PR.com)-- After many hours of play he finally clinched the title in the early hours of Sunday morning, and for his victory he walked away with the phenomenal first prize of R1 million, as well as a World Poker Tour Boot Camp Package to the value of R70,000. “I am very happy. This is the one I always wanted to win,” enthused the new poker champion.

To triumph at this major poker event, Darren had to outplay a strong field of 113, featuring some of the top poker players on the African Poker circuit, including former AAPT title holders, Nick Katsapas, Dale Winterstein, Greg Ronaldson, Ryan Eber, Peter Vermaas and reigning champion Ray Rahme. But in the end there were ten, Eugene du Plessis; Nicolas Zakhem; Nahum Lum; Marco Farrell; Joep van Almenkerk; Kosta Kotsikaris; Jay Sookoo; Raymond Ming Fok and Gareth Wobbe.

After many calls, raises and folds it was Darren Kramer and Jay Sookoo who went heads up for the championship. Kramer kicked off with a slight chip lead, with his 1,835,000 chips versus the 1,116,000 chips of Sookoo. Darren drew blood from the word go and although Sookoo put up an admirable fight, he managed to defeat Sookoo in just under one and a half hours. For his second place, Jay earned himself an impressive R435,000 as well as a WPT Boot Camp Package to the value of R70,000.

Joining Kramer and Sookoo on Team All Africa Poker to the Caribbean in December are:

- 4th: Marco Farrell who won R180,000
- 5th Gareth Wobbe who won R170,000

“We have sponsored WPT Bootcamp Packages to the value of R70,000 each for all the players who made the top ten,” says Wendy Graaf, Group Marketing Manager of Piggs Peak Casino. “As members of Team All Africa Poker, these fortunate players will be in poker paradise for a week, in the Caribbean, where they will be personally coached by some of the world’s best poker players, including the likes of T.J.Cloutier and Scotty Nguyen,” explains Wendy. “And we are elated to be able to give them this once in a lifetime opportunity!”
